Eyelid Lift Questions Answered
Eyelid lifts, also referred to as blepharoplasty, is a form of plastic surgery that involves the removal of excess skin and fatty tissue from the eye area. This procedure can be performed on either the upper or lower lids. Read on for more information on the merits of an eyelid lift.
Turn Back Time
Eyelid lifts are fantastically effective in awakening the face and correcting the toll that age and chronic allergies has taken. Over the course of time, skin loses its elasticity and begins to sag and droop. This procedure creates a younger appearance by using a method that lifts the skin around the eyes, which tightens the skin, improves smoothness and erases folding, puffiness and sagging. People who have undergone this type of cosmetic procedure report looking more rested and refreshed.
Improve Your Eyesight
Eyelid lifts are chosen also by patients to improve their vision, which has been obstructed by their upper lid drooping over their field of vision. This technique focuses on the removal of the upper fold that hangs over the eye, but also succeeds in creating a larger eye opening, providing more efficient vision.
Ptosis is a condition in which the upper lid lacks muscle tone, making it difficult to move and causing the eyelid to hang over the lashes. Sometimes caused by nerve damage, many ptosis patients opt for this procedure to treat their condition and improve their vision. In many of these cases, insurance coverage is possible.
In more simple forms of this technique, only local anesthesia is required, which makes it an even safer method of enhancement. In other cases, general anesthesia is used, as with most other cosmetic surgeries. Either way, this is an outpatient procedure, allowing patients to return home the same day.
Skilled plastic surgeons strategically place incisions to allow for minimum obvious scarring. In regard to eyelid lifts, the incisions are placed in the natural upper lid fold and for lower eye work, the scar will be hidden on the lower lash line, imperceptible after only a few weeks.
Good candidates for this procedure include those in generally good health with no history of adverse reactions to surgery or anesthesia.
This technique is a viable option for anyone who wishes to look younger and more refreshed, and for those who wish to improve their eyesight. For additional information on this fantastic procedure, schedule a consultation with your plastic surgeon.

Eyelid Surgery Basics
Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is a surgical option which helps to repair droopy eyelids through the removal of excess skin, fat, and muscle. As we age, our eyelids stretch, causing the supporting muscles to weaken. As a result, excess fat deposits form around the eyelids, causing sagging eyebrows, drooping upper lids, and bags under the eyes. Aside from making you appear older, severely sagging skin can work to impair your vision. In this article, we will outline this procedure in hopes of providing information to those considering undergoing it.
Patients may consider blepharoplasty in cases where sagging or droopy eyelids prohibit the eyes from opening as they should or pull your lower lids down. Removing excess tissue from the lower lids, upper lids, or both can effectively improve vision and make the eyes appear younger and more alert. The procedure may be an option for those who have:
* Bags under the eyes
* Excess skin on the lower lids
* Droopy lower lids
* Excess skin of the upper lid that interferes with vision
The treatment is able to be performed at the same time as other procedures such as brow lifts, skin resurfacing, or a face lift.
As with any operation, eyelid surgery carries some risk of complication. These risks include:
* Temporary eyelid skin numbness
* Scarring
* Small risk of blindness
* Impaired eyelid function
* Double vision
* Dry eyes
Prior to your surgical date, you will meet with your physician to discuss whether the treatment is a good fit for you. During this meeting, you should expect the following:
An overview of your medical history – Your physician will ask questions pertaining to current or past conditions. Detailed questions may focus on glaucoma, dry eyes, eye-related allergies, and other issues regarding the eyes. Be sure to inform your doctor if you have any circulatory problems. Your doctor will also inquire as to any current medications.
Physical Exam – Your physician will conduct a physical examination, including a test of your tear production and vision. In addition, a set of special tools may be used to measure various parts of the lids.
Photos – Your eyes will be photographed in order to plan the surgery and assess the immediate and long term effects.
Discussion – A discussion will take place in order to help set the stage for a satisfactory outcome. Be prepared to talk about your motivations and hopes concerning the procedure. Your physician will be best able to tell you whether your expectations are at all reasonable.

It’s definitely not a coincident that eczema appear kind of like a chemical burn. The chemical poisons your body is desperately attempting to force out actually burns the outer layers of the skin away in the process. This is what eczema really is..

Thermage for Eyelid Treatment
One of the natural effects of aging is the degradation of the skin around the eyes, resulting in loose, sagging skin that hides and ages the appearance of your eyes. There are various methods of rejuvenating the eyelids and producing a more youthful appearance, including blepharoplasty surgery. However, many of these options require partially-invasive surgery or uncomfortable injections that have to be repeated to achieve results. The Thermage systemallows you to regain your eyes’ youthful brightness and vitality in a single, non-invasive treatment.
Thermage Eye Rejuvenation Procedure
The concept behind the Thermage is relatively simple, while the technology itself is very advanced. Essentially, Thermage works by heating the collagen-producing inner layers of skin tissue with radio frequency (RF) technology while cooling the upper layers of the skin for minimal damage. The deep heating effect tightens existing collagen while stimulating increased collagen production for continued improvement over time.
When used to rejuvenate the skin around the eyes, Thermage can effectively reduce fine lines and wrinkles, lift and tighten the skin of the eyelid and under the brow, decrease the “hooding” effect of sagging skin, and reduce sagging underneath the eye. All of these effects are designed to bring out your eyes’ natural, youthful beauty without sagging, wrinkled skin hiding them.
Thermage can also be effective in reducing crow’s feet and other wrinkles. After Thermage eye treatment, you can have the bright, lively eyes you had decades ago.
Thermage—A Convenient, Safe Alternative to Surgery
While some eye rejuvenation procedures involve surgical incisions or potentially painful injections, the Thermage system is completely non-invasive. In addition, Thermage eye rejuvenation requires basically no downtime, making it a perfect choice for patients with an active, busy lifestyle. Most patients are able to resume normal activities the same day.
Thermage produces great results with a single treatment, and those results can last for years depending on your skin’s level of damage and condition. While minor side effects are possible, including swelling and bruising, most patients see an immediate improvement in their skin’s appearance that continues over the next few months. Thermage is also one of the only skin rejuvenation procedures that requires no special preparation or follow-up care.
If you would like to take years off the appearance of your eyes, reduce wrinkles, and reveal brighter, more vibrant eyes but are uncomfortable with surgery or injections, Thermage can be a quick and nearly painless option. With minimal downtime and optimal safety, Thermage is an important advancement in facial rejuvenation technology.

Tagged again! Hypatia’s Eyelids

I don’t think I’ll re-tag anyone but Gloomymort wanted a pic of Hypatia, so here she is
…I also discovered the one thing I don’t like about AQ: her eyelids. This pic is not super-great for the colors, but you can tell that the eyelid and the skin are two rather different shades. It’s TAN, and it’s not pretty. I don’t know why they didn’t put a lovely pearlescent pink to match her eyeshadow. x__x
