How To Remove Moles

It’s so hard to watch someone you care about going through all of this. With the radiation, the big thing was that it was making her feel really drained all of the time and the burns on her face and neck were extremely painful. It seems like it’s one thing after the other.

In the picture above, you can see the Scar from her surgeries where they removed the melanoma. The first Surgery scar runs from the handle of her glasses to the bottom of her ear lobe. The second surgery, when the tumor grew under where the mole was 6 months after the 1st surgery, runs from the middle of her ear to her neck. That second scar is much more noticeable because they had to dig deeper. After she healed from the surgeries, she had to start radiation. The Radiation not only made her sick and weak, but she also lost a lot of hair which you can kind of see on the back of her neck and how high her hair line went. It was actually a lot worse in the back but no one can really see since the rest of her hair does a great job of covering it up. She compared the feeling of the radiation on her neck to a chemical burn. As you can see from the picture, it doesn’t look fun and it definitely wasn’t. Once that cleared up she had to start on the Interferon which was a whole other world of discomfort. I told Sara she was my new Hero for going through all of this and not calling it quits half way through. After the first couple of days of feeling like she did I would have told everyone to fuck off and I would want to take the chance that the cancer may come back. Sara is one of the strongest people I know to be able to deal with all of this the way she has been.

As of Friday Apr. 11 2008, she has finished the IV portion of her Interferon treatment. They will be giving her a week off before starting her Shot portion. Instead of receiving an IV 5 times a week, she will be receiving a shot with half her dose 3 times a week for 11 months. It’s going to be a long time to go through this, I just hope she doesn’t get as sick as she has been with the IV. Thankfully, the doctors have given her the week off so she can celebrate her 21st birthday on the 17th w/o feeling so sick.
